i'd have to imagine that a FEW people might have heard of Charlie because of Emily. But if anybody bought a record based on some supposition of similarity of music based on that relationship, they were likely to be terribly disappointed.
i always liked Charlie okay. But, he always fell just a tiny bit short to me. Like he was always on the very precipice of writing something really memorable to me, and then took the easy way out, the easy rhyme, the cliche. I never loved a Charlie Robison record as much as i hoped i'd love it. And i really wanted to love them....
i like his brother better.
