You're right, the songs aren't really memorable but the sound is fantastic.
The only weird thing about the backgrounds is that Jim's are not only
mixed low but appear in unusual places to my ears.? Kinda' weird and
off putting IMO.

Tis an unusual album. The songs are amusing, if not memorable. The
sound... well, you KNOW he made this album mostly to capture that
great acoustic sound. I like the original "Complicated Shadows" (from
All This Useless Beauty) more than I liked this version, but it was
fun to hear it reimagined. I like the way that harmonies are buried
way down in the mix -- Lauderdale and Harris are usually mixed right
up front.
