When I worked for Universal in Boston, one of my co-workers put together
a cassette tape (yes, this is how long ago) he entitled Easy Cheese -
all of these bad but good guilty pleasure easy listening songs of the
70s - Poco, Crystal Gayle, Starlight Vocal Band, Melanie, Paul Davis,
ARS - you get the idea....it became a sort of hit with us.  I took it
with me when I moved back to Buffalo and drove around on night for about
45 minutes with two significantly younger friends of mine, who
surprisingly, knew all of the songs.  I also passed a copy on to a
friend in NJ, who returned a CD of the tracks to me. (So, now I have it
on two formats).  Many of the songs are horrific, but that was what was
on the radio when I was growing up, so that's what I listened to....

 

Lucky kids these days with satellite radio.....

   Glad you liked it.  Sound of Running is one of their early singles
that Bloodshot compiled on Early Tracks (it's on e-music) and Holly
Jolly Christmas is on an Elektra Christmas compilation from the late
1990s (i.e. those golden salad days when alt-country bands were on
major labels). :)
