<I'm going to see him tonight and will report back. I like the new CD, and it
did take a few listens to get comfortable with it.
Tonight's show is oddly promoted. Hayes Carll is the scheduled opener at
8:30, then I found out Carrie Rodriquez is also playing at 8PM, unannounced. I
believe she is in Alejandro's band, but not sure on that.

Saw them last night in Asheville. Surprisingly strong crowd response for a Tuesday night, and he seemed pleased. I have always loved his string quintet stuff, but it was a great rocking show. Only played 5-6 songs from the new record, mixed in a bunch of old ones, had a nice quiet 2-3 song set in the middle.
Carrie Rodriguez opened and played violin for most of Alejandro's set. No cellos, no keyboards.
I've listened to "Real Animal" 2-3 times now, and it's getting better each time. Highlights for me are "Real As An Animal", "Chip & Tony", "Chelsea Hotel", "Slow Down", "Swallows of San Juan". A couple others were much better live than the first impression I had from the CD.
