Just got finished watching this 1972 film, "Payday," which I somehow missed when it came out and after. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. Pre-Garry Shandling Rip Torn has a bravura performance as a corrupt and mean charmer of a country singer, on the road in the South. It's got most of the great things about ’70s movies. -- terry smith
