Greetings all,
We are pleased to announce that Nonsequitur has signed an agreement
with Historic Seattle to use the Chapel at the Good Shepherd Center in
Wallingford as our new venue for adventurous music and sound art
(photos at http://nseqspace.blogspot.com), as well as other
performances of an experimental nature. (For events that fall outside
of our scope, the space can be rented from Historic Seattle.)
Nonsequitur will have use of the Chapel ten times per month. The
remaining eight or nine uses are available for other
organizations/artists to present their own events that are related to
our mission. We have insurance that covers audience and performers on
any of these ten nights.
The lease goes into effect on March 15, so we are ready to begin
booking your events. Dates are available on a first come, first served
basis. Organizations and artists interested in using the space should
contact me directly: nonseq at drizzle.com or 206-789-1939.
Knowing that much of the work we all present often has a small
audience, we want to make the space as affordable as possible. The rate
policy will be as follows: Nonsequitur will take 20% of the door, but
only if the door is over $200. If your ticket sales are less than $200,
we will take nothing. The most we will ever take is $250 per use, which
is what the space costs us.
We can send out event announcements to this list, but presenters will
be responsible for all other promotion for their shows.
Lighting equipment has been ordered, and sound equipment will be
ordered shortly. We are also working on a backstage curtain, adjustable
acoustic treatments, and a piano (if anyone has a line on a good 7' +
grand piano, let me know).
The acoustics are quite reverberant and the room sounds beautiful for
unamplified sound, but amplified music and drum sets may be more
problematic until the backstage curtain and (removable) acoustic panels
are in.
The space seats 150 (85 max on weeknights due to zoning restrictions),
and the chairs are movable.
There are two very nice dressing rooms, and a lighting booth.
The building is wheelchair accessible, with an elevator, ramps, and a
large parking lot. It is three blocks from restaurants and bars on 45th
St. in Wallingford, and close to the U District, Fremont, and Green
Lake.
Please forward this to anyone who you think should know about it, and
contact me to book dates or ask further questions.
See you at the Chapel!
Steve Peters
