Install something like a pcsclite development package. You need the 
static library file libpcsclite.a I guess. I haven't found it in gentoo. 
I don't know how to search package contents.

Maybe pcsclite can also be compiled without debugging support ...

run

nm -D libpcsclite.so.1.0.0 | grep log_xxd
objdump -t libpcsclite.a | grep log_xxd

to see if the symbol is defined.
