Thanks for the information about the PC/SC Driver Developers Kit.
Creating a serial driver that accesses a memory card is a good solution.

Thanks for the link, but is there a newer release of this kit? 

The ifdhandler.h in this kit does not match the ifdhandler.h in the
latest libpcsclite release.
