Use the forms at the end of this page to subscribe, unsubscribe, or manage your Postcard2 (P2) discussion list membership. Here are answers to some typical questions posed by list subscribers:
May I use P2 for music trading? P2 exists as a music discussion forum, but is not a music trading list. Members who wish to trade music are asked to do so off-list.
May I post promotional messages to the group? One of the strengths of this list is communication of music-related activities, and so we encourage promotion of Americana radio shows, recordings or performances if they are related to the activities of folks on this list, and to music we discuss, and if they are posted by recognized list folks. We do not tolerate spam. If you aren't sure about the difference between promotion of your music-related activities and posting spam, please contact a list administrator before posting promotional messages.
What's the advantage of the email digest? During P2's “boom times,” more than 100 messages would be posted each day. We're quieter these days, but you may want to subscribe to the digest, rather than receive individual messages. The digest option sends collections of group postings in a single email message; this reduces the amount of group email you'll receive. You'll always have the option to switch between individual messages and the digest.
May I send messages to P2 from another email address? The list is configured to automatically reject mail from email addresses that are not in the membership list. These rejected messages are placed in a queue for moderator review. Most of these messages are spam, so we tend to delete them in batches without examining them too closely. If you expect to be posting messages from an non-list address, send a note to a list administrator beforehand.
I'm a subscriber, so why wasn't my message delivered? We rarely experience delivery problems with this list server, but here's one thing to note: if your message was addressed to multiple recipients, or undisclosed recipients, the list server may reject the message as spam, even if the originating address is recognized as being in the membership database.
Why was my membership unexpectedly terminated? If messages sent by P2 to your email address are "bounced" back by your mail host, the P2 administration software may automatically terminate your subscription. Don't take it personally; all you need to do is resubscribe, or subscribe using another email address if the problem persists.
Messages from P2 are treated as spam by my mail system. How can I fix this? Because messages from P2 are sent to an undisclosed group of recipients, your mail system may treat P2 mail as spam. Create a contact or address book entry for postcard2@ lists. drizzle. com (without the spaces, of course); your mail system should send messages from that address to your inbox instead of a spam folder. If your mail application supports it, you may want to create a mail filter for this address, which will route P2 messages to a designated location.
